HONORING OUR HISTORY

Because of its deep appreciation of the origins and evolution of the document communication industry, EDSF is committed to commemorating the industry's growth and showcasing its achievements since the Foundation's inception.

In the Industry Museum you will have the opportunity to view a video of products that were a part of our industry's past. This is a show of appreciation of the industry's past and a celebration of where we are today. The invention of the Gutenberg press was one of the most significant events in the past millenium. The printing press allowed, for the first time, the rapid and widespread dissemination of information, knowledge and scholarship. It not only made a myriad of other inventions possible, but also triggered profound and lasting social and political changes. It spread knowledge beyond a small number of privileged individuals, thus permitting larger numbers to share or debate worldviews and to build upon past and present ideas.

The document communication industry - only 20 years or so - it too has had significant impact on the world around us and has helped continue the work that began with the Gutenberg press. One important milestone for the industry was the introduction of high-speed laser printers. Since then, much has been accomplished in this ever-changing, competitive environment, and we can be certain of more to come.

As we look toward the future, it is important to review the past, to see where we are today and to move into the future. View the roots of document printing and build a foundation of knowledge about this valuable industry.
